Tough for Out of Staters

Just an update on the changes in medical marijuana laws coming on October 1, in Colorado. And how to deal with them. Hello, NSA! The Tough Guy typed in a magic word back there.
Beginning Oct. 1. 2013, possession of less than 1 ounce of pot is no longer a crime. Sales (at this point in time) for recreational use seem to be limited to a maximum 1 oz. purchase. If you are not a resident, sales are limited to 1/4 oz. So Tough for The Out-of-Stater. And if you want to be a seller or grower, be prepared to pay a lot of money for a license. And a background check. Yes you can be turned down. Being a medical grower or caregiver is more expensive than recreational but there is a higher amount for possessing, like multi pounds versus ounces. Getting a growers license is for the commercial and bigger private growers. You can grow up to 6 flowering plants at a time at home. Basically 18 plants in 3 stages. I you are going to grow, do it as a hobby. There is too much really high (pun intended) quality pot around. Be careful how you use it.
Being under the influence and driving is still illegal. Also public intoxication can be applied. Basically what the government wants from the potheads is for them to stay home, get stoned, and shut the fuck up. Unless you are within 1000′ of a school. In that case you really should move. Not because of Fed law, but because it’s the right thing to do. We don’t need to promote getting high to school kids. Hell, they probably get better shit than their folks do!
The level of THC in your system can be measured quickly now. And police will be equipped with these pot breathalyzers soon. So watch your smoking and drinking when going out. Remember, combining pot with alcohol multiplies the effect, not just adds to it.
On a lighter note, The Tough Guy has been noticing that late nite drunks are a little more mellow lately. This is a good sign. The natives are settling down. After all, when was the last time a gun instructor in Co. shot anyone accidentally?
